The best defense is providence. After and above all other variables, God is able to deliver whom he wills from trouble.

Trust that God who set you to preparing all these years has also ordained a use for your gifts and skills. Moses was forty years in the wilderness before his time came, but he was not a day out of sync with God’s providence.

When principle requires us to suffer, we may at least find solace knowing there is less evil in suffering for good causes, than in actively participating in the very least sin.

When confronted with false moral dilemmas that tempt us to choose one or another bad path in the name of pragmatic compromise, I believe we must resolve upon the sovereignty of God as sufficient to excuse us for not deviating from His revealed Law, while looking forward to final judgment to resolve any grievances we face for not compromising our integrity.

Our Own Personal Paradise - Thomas Boston

In this helpful and brief post, Ryan McGraw explains why, “in the teaching of Scripture, it is less important to be delivered from our trials than it is to consider what God is doing in us through our trials.”

Regarding Matt. 16:4

Humans are naturally disposed to superstition. We have a way of turning the whole world into a Ouija board, seeing signs in every pattern; kismet in each coincidence. The uncanny happens, yes, but it is not the measure of truth. Strange providence is something better observed with silence than commented upon. Much less should it be allowed to form our solid conclusions.

The Widow’s Cruse

9 March, 2010 - Forks, Washington

 Praise God, the kindness of the Lord!
 He works as winds uncharted;
   unexpectedly imparting to His saints for pressing needs.

Never has He suffered this poor widow’s cruse to failure.
Ever does He care to fill her pots and faith to feed.

The beauty of the night sky, its sheer size and the order of its motion, all proclaim that God does amazing things with perfect timing.
The Lord has so ordered the universe that obedience to Him is not only right, but ideal.
